Community Housing Retrofit Program

Are you a not-for-profit (NFP) organisation providing community housing?

If you own or are responsible for the maintenance of the property, you may be eligible to participate in the Community Housing Retrofit Program (CHRP).

This program helps save water and reduce water bills by identifying and repairing leaks and the replacement of inefficient fixtures and fittings.

The CHRP is proudly offered by Greater Western Water, South East Water and Yarra Valley Water in partnership with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action.

Due to current high demand for the CHRP in 2023-24, we are currently accepting expressions of interest (EOI) and placing eligible organisations on a waitlist.

If you think you are eligible, please complete the EOI form online.

Expressions of interest form

How it works
  • We (Yarra Valley Water) engages our contracted plumber to conduct a water audit of your property to identify any leaks or inefficient fixtures or fittings.

  • The plumber contacts your organisation directly to book a mutually suitable time to attend the property to conduct a water audit.

  • The plumber then provides us with a report on the property along with a quote of any required works.

  • We then confirm the works to be completed and advise your organisation of proposed upgrades.

  • Our plumber contacts you to arrange a time to conduct the works, and once complete, we’ll provide you with details of the final works along with any warranties or Certificates of Compliance.

  • The CHRP may provide assistance up to $12,000 per property which may include multiple products and services. Only works authorised by us will be covered.
