Brushy Creek recycled water project
Brushy Creek Class A recycled water
Yarra Valley Water has invested over $4.5 million to upgrade the Brushy Creek Sewage Treatment Plant in Chirnside Park, which provides a Class A recycled water source for Melbourne's eastern and north eastern communities. The Class A recycled water is available for councils for irrigation of sporting ovals. Class A recycled water is a sustainable alternative to drinking water and can be used for a wide range of purposes.
Our supply of Class A recycled water:
Ensures the eastern and north eastern areas of Melbourne have their own local source of Class A recycled water.
Decreases the amount of wastewater released into the environment.
Allows communities to continue to enjoy community assets such as sporting ovals through water restrictions.
Contributes to the State Government's water recycling target of 20% by 2010, which has been achieved two years ahead of schedule.
