About us
Sustainable sewerage solutions
We continue our Sewer Backlog Program to transition customers from septic tanks (assessed by councils to be having a detrimental effect on the local waterways) to modern, newly constructed reticulation.
Customers in Cockatoo, Donvale, Montrose, and Ringwood North/Park Orchards were encouraged to connect to new sewerage infrastructure built in these areas.
To reduce the impact of poor performing septic tanks on community health, the environment and the Yarra River and its tributaries, we offer financial incentives to encourage early connection and aim to have more than 50 per cent of customers connect within one year of the service becoming available.
In 2009/10, 259 properties connected to recently constructed sewerage infrastructure and decommissioned their septic tanks, against our target of 213.
We remain on track to complete servicing to around 520 properties in Templestowe by 30 June 2011.
