Other Authorities Works (OAWs)
Yarra Valley Water has an extensive network of water supply and sewerage assets including pipelines, pump stations and other facilities located in public roads and many public reserves throughout our business area.
We recognise that other authorities and organisations such as municipal councils, government departments and agencies, private developers and contractors often propose works that may affect our assets.
How to make enquiries and obtain information
The following information will help you to avoid potential damage to our assets and costly delay to other authorities’ works. We welcome enquiries in relation to conditions for working near or over our assets.
Are there any Yarra Valley Water assets near the proposed works site?
Always lodge a Dial-Before-You-Dig enquiry by phoning 1100 or www.1100.com.au as early as possible before planned commencement of works. Plans will be provided of Yarra Valley Water assets in the vicinity, as well as all other service utility assets.
If you are still unsure of whether any of our assets exist near your work site, or any asset location is unclear, phone 13 16 95 to confirm.
What are Yarra Valley Water’s minimum clearances between its assets and proposed works?
Click on this link for minimum clearances information.
Please note: Major works such as roadworks, rail and tramway works are not covered by the above. Please call 131695 for further information.
My proposed works may not achieve minimum clearance requirements, how do I obtain Yarra Valley Water consent?
Please call 131695 and a customer service representative will advise. If the works are likely to affect our assets, you will be referred to the appropriate department for further advice. You may be asked to provide details of your works proposal such as design plans.
If my proposed works may require alteration to a Yarra Valley Water asset, how long will it take, and what will it cost?
This depends on the nature of the works proposal. Major roadworks sometimes require extensive relocation of our assets. In such cases we may need several months lead time to arrange design and construction. Cost needs to be estimated on a case-by-case basis.
Minor works such as other underground assets (drains, telecom conduits, gas etc) may only require minor alterations to our assets that can usually be arranged within 2 to 3 weeks. Cost needs to be estimated on a case-by-case basis.
