Bulk water (hydrant) permits
Yarra Valley Water has changed how it manages the Bulk Water (hydrant) permit system for all water carriers. These changes may affect your permit and the vehicles registered under it.
While the current paper log sheet billing system for bulk water permit holders is successful for some, the development of new technology (Easyfill), has allowed us to adopt some features to improve our service.
In addition, the current water restrictions under Yarra Valley Water's Drought Response Plan and the Safe Drinking Water Act 2003 require Yarra Valley Water to ensure that any water taken from hydrants and filling stations is being used appropriately. This water must be used only for purposes that are permitted under Stage 1 water restrictions.
Customer types:
The permit application process has now been divided into two customer types.
Domestic customers - customers who require a permit to access Water Filling Stations for their own private property use (drinking water, stock watering, fire fighting)
Commercial customers - customers who operate a business that supplies water to end users such as domestic supply of drinking water, construction, drain cleaning, road construction, landscaping, concrete cutting, drilling/boring, dust suppression etc.
Commercial Vehicles with a carrying capacity of 1,800 litres or more* will need to be fitted with a new EasyFill device.
* Some vehicles may be exempt from being required to have this device installed
