Case studies

We are working together with our business customers to help them reduce their water usage. 

Here are some great examples of water saving initiatives: 

Alternative sources                                     

Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club has reduced water use by 80% or 18 million litres per year. Portable water is entirely substituted with alternative sources to sustain the tennis courts and landscape gardens while all other sources of use within the facility are managed efficiently.

Blackburn Bowls Club’s fully integrated water conservation system will eliminate the need for potable water for all non-drinking water applications and is expected to save the club 1.2 million litres of water a year.

The City of Darebin's Bundoora Park stormwater project has combined water efficiency measures with alternative water sources to reduce demand on potable water by almost 80 million litres per year - a 96% saving.
 

Water sensitive design

RSPCA (Victoria), Burwood East is a demonstration of architecturally award winning sustainable design with new animal shelter facilities that incorporate energy and water efficiency practices. Around 80% reduction in water use will be achieved through the design of new kennels and water recycling facilities

Chadstone Place is a  new development boasts a much coveted 5-star rating by the Green Building Council of Australia, one of the few retail projects to do so in Australia.


Waste water reuse

Note Printing Australia purchased a process water recycling system that removes the ink component from the process water used for printing banknotes and recycles up to 90% of this process water back to the printing presses


Rainwater harvesting

Since the beginning of 2006, daily water consumption at Henkel Australia's Kilsyth site has been reduced by 46%. The reduction in water consumption was achieved by undertaking a number of actions in different areas over several years.


Desalination

Over the past 3 years Wesley College, Glen Waverley Campus has saved over 10 million litres of drinking water by implementing an innovative program to ensure the campus is water efficient
