assisting business customersWater Management Plans (WaterMAPs)

What is WaterMAP?

A water management plan enables non-residential water customers to:

  • Assess their water usage
  • Identify inefficiencies and opportunities for water savings
  • Prepare an action plan to implement water conservation activities
  • Annually report on the implementation of water conservation activities.

Businesses that develop and implement a water management plan are systematically identifying opportunities to improve business efficiency through sound water management practices. We work in partnership with business customers in developing and implementing these plans.

Completing your waterMAP

The annual waterMAP progress report for the 2010/2011 year will be available on line for completion from 1 September 2011. These reports are due for completion by 30 September 2011.

We will be holding workshops for customers who would like to have assistance with their online progress report at our head office in Mitcham. The dates for these will be:

  • Tuesday  20 September    Morning: 9.30 am - noon; Afternoon: 1.30pm - 3.30pm
  • Thursday 22 September   Morning: 9.30am - noon; Afternoon: 1.30pm - 3.30 pm

Each session can accommodate ten people so book early to ensure your place at the workshop. To book a place please contact your relevant customer relationship manager.

It is the intention of the Victorian Government to make waterMAP voluntary from July 2011. This is in recognition of the excellent effort all waterMAP customers have made to improving their water efficiency and reducing their reliance on Victoria's precious drinking water supplies. The voluntary waterMAP program will be open to all businesses that use five megalitres or more of drinking water per year.

If you would like further information on the waterMAP program and the online tool please contact us (see below).

Online waterMAP program

We’ve developed an online tool  to assist business customers that are required to develop a Water Management Action Plan (waterMAP).

The online waterMAP tool has been used by over 300 customers within the Yarra Valley Water region. The online tool enables remote and secure access to your waterMAP and is beneficial in the following ways:

  • your water consumption data is automatically uploaded into the report
  • you can view your water use history graphically
  • an online help function is available to guide you through the waterMAP report
  • you may enter and leave the secure environment as required and data will be saved in the system for future use
  • a PDF version of your waterMAP can be generated for use within your business.
