Water efficiency in asian restaurants
Wok stoves are common in restaurant kitchens, particularly those serving Asian-style food. A conventional two-burner wok stove can use up to 5,500 litres a day, but only around 500 litres is actually used for cooking. The remaining water is used in cooling and rinsing.
Investing in a waterless wok stove will pay for itself in water savings in a short period of time and savings will then continue to be achieved long after.
Water savvy restaurants in Yarra Valley Water’s service area that already use the new technology report figures such as an 89 per cent reduction in water use, plus a saving of around $4,000 per year in water and sewer costs.
More information on how to save money and water in asian restaurants is available in our easy to follow education brochure including checklists of what you can do.
