March 2012: Warrandyte Festival

Yarra Valley Water staff recently manned a display at the Warrandyte Festival on 24 and 25 March.  The stall displayed maps, reports, and other useful project information about the Warrandyte and North Warrandyte Sewerage Backlog Projects.

Our project team members were on hand to speak to local residents about these projects and discuss their questions and concerns. The Yarra Valley Water employees had a great time at the festival and enjoyed the opportunity to speak to residents face to face.  Throughout the weekend, the project team members spoke with more than 100 customers involved with these projects.

March 2012: Preliminary Design of New Sewerage Services for Warrandyte

We wrote to Warrandyte residents in February 2011 with an invitation to visit the Warrandyte Sewerage Project online forum and have a say on the concept design of the Warrandyte sewerage network. Having considered the input from the community, on 3 January 2012 we officially commenced the next stage of design of the new sewerage system for Warrandyte. Residents have been advised that in preparation for our preliminary designs, staff from Yarra Valley Water or our representatives will be seen within local streets performing site investigations and local surveying.

A community information session was held in February at the Warrandyte Community Centre. The information session was a great success with over 120 residents attending. Large scale maps were produced especially for the event so that residents could easily view the design of the sewerage system and understand how their property would be connected to sewer.  The Yarra Valley Water project team answered questions from customers about the new sewerage services.

Yarra Valley Water is pleased to announce that we have secured a stall at the upcoming Warrandyte Festival on 24 and 25 March.  Staff members involved with this project, and also the Warrandyte North Sewerage Backlog Project will be on hand to discuss the projects and answer questions.  The stall will include maps, reports, and other useful information pertaining to both projects.

Construction works for the new sewerage services for Warrandyte are due to begin around July 2012.

May 2011: Warrandyte Sewerage Project - Online Discussion Forum Results

From 9th March 2011 until 8th April 2011, Yarra Valley Water ran an online forum where Warrandyte residents and neighbouring communities were invited to view and have their say on the options for the design of the new sewerage system for Warrandyte. The forum has now closed, however the design reports are still available for downloading, please visit the website at www.warrandytebacklog.com.au if you would like to view the reports.

We would like to thank the residents from Warrandyte and neighbouring communities for their interest in the project. We have now analysed the responses to the proposed design. Please view the Warrandyte Sewerage Project - Online Discussion Forum Results (PDF, 677KB) fact sheet for a summary of the results. The final sewer design will consider all feedback received from residents. This information will help us to provide sewer services in the best way for the community.

March 2011: The Warrandyte Festival

Yarra Valley Water had a ‘Backlog Stall’ at the Warrandyte Festival on 19th and 20th March 2011. Plans for where new sewerage services will be introduced to Warrandyte, to replace existing septic systems were on display, and Yarra Valley Water engineers answered questions from customers about the proposed sewerage services.

We are very pleased with the outcome of the Warrandyte Festival exhibition, the stall had many visitors including those from both South and North Warrandyte and our presence at the Festival resulted in many phone calls to the Backlog Team and enabled a significant amount of customer queries to be answered over the duration of the festival.
