Every year, residents of Melbourne use almost 500,000 million litres of drinking water for a number of purposes, some of which do not require drinking water quality.

The use of other types of water allows us to reduce demand on our drinking water supply from reservoirs and rivers and protects the health of our environment.

Recycled water, greywater, rainwater and bore water are all viable alternative water sources.
