Understanding recycled water

Working in a recycled water area?

Understanding the process

Developers, planners and builders of new housing need to understand their role in the recycled water process.

Read an overview of the recycled water process here (PDF 171 KB).

As more and more estates connect to recycled water, plumbers must understand how it is brought from the treatment plant to the property. Plumbers also need to understand the installation, testing and certification requirements they need to follow when connecting houses to the recycled water system. This information is valuable for homeowners to understand as well.

To help you understand, read the Getting Connected fact sheet.

Under Section 63 of the Water Industry Act 1994, Yarra Valley Water requires any property connecting our assets to meet a number of conditions. In addition to the standard conditions issued for connecting to our supply, there are also supplementary conditions which specifically relate to the Class A recycled water supply. These supplementary Conditions of Connection can be downloaded here
