Understanding recycled water

Specific information for your recycled water area

Whittlesea City Council

Epping North - Aurora

Class A recycled water was turned on to Aurora in March 2009 and all homes are plumbed to receive recycled water (by your builder). Class A recycled water can be used to wash clothes, flush toilets indoors and to water gardens or wash cars outdoors in completed homes.

The use of Class A recycled water at Aurora is expected to save around 480 million litres of drinking water per year when the estate is fully developed.

For more information visit the VicUrban website.

Epping - Summerhill

In close proximity to the established town centre of Epping, Summerhill  has Class A recycled water connections available to residents providing recycled water for watering gardens, washing cars and for flushing. For more information visit  the Summer Hill living website

City of Maroondah

Croydon - The Range

Recycled water went live at The Range in November 2010.  The use of recycled water ensures gardens flourish year round, while you have peace of mind you are helping preserve our precious water supply. For more information go to The Range website.

Special notice

From July 2010, Class A recycled water can also be used for washing clothes. It is compulsory for all new homes built from this date to have a recycled water tap installed in the laundry during construction for the clothes washing machine, in addition to the hot water and cold water taps.  While the use of recycled water for clothes washing is optional, the average household can reduce their use of drinking water by 12% in winter and up to 10% in summer by using recycled water instead.
