Recycled water
Every year, more than 40% of our water use is used for things such as toilet flushing and garden watering – purposes that don’t require water to be drinking quality.
To reduce the demand on drinking water, we are dedicated to providing recycled water for an ever-increasing range of residential, commercial and open space uses.
There are different grades of recycled water from Class A to Class D. Class A is the highest quality and is used exclusively in residential areas where recycled water is supplied.

Our supply of Class A recycled water:
- Ensures the eastern and north eastern areas of Melbourne have their own local source of Class A recycled water
- Decreases the amount of wastewater released into the environment
- Allows people to continue to enjoy community assets such as sporting ovals through periods of drought or water restrictions.
