Alternative water sources
Melburnians use almost 500,000 million litres of drinking water a year for a number of purposes, some of which do not require drinking water quality. The use of alternative sources of water allows us to reduce demand on our drinking water supply from reservoirs and rivers and protects the health of our environment. Recycled water, greywater and rainwater are all viable alternative water sources. For more information on each of these water sources click on the following options.
