Mains Cleaning

Water mains are the pipes that carry water underneath most roads and streets. Just as someone may clean their gutters as part of regular home maintenance, we have to clean our pipes from time to time.

The water mains cleaning program aims to improve your water quality by removing any naturally built up sediment in the pipes. While this sediment is harmless, it does cause concern to our customers and is the major cause of complaints.

We will clean a total of 2,800 kilometres of water pipes from July 2005 – June 2006 across the following water quality zones: Croydon, Lilydale, Warranwood, Ridge-Monbulk, Emerald, Doncaster, Bulleen, Epping, Tullamarine and Somerton.
