The following is a list of simple steps you can take to determine why you are using the volume of water as shown on your account and ways to monitor your water usage.

Step 1 - Understand your account charges
It is important to understand what each charge on your account represents. Here you can find information on each charge and a sample copy of a Smart Account.

Step 2 - Check your water meter or meter number is correct
The meter number displayed on your water meter at home should match the number shown on the back of your account. 

Step 3 - Check for a leak 
Your water meter can be used to detect leaks around your home.

Step 4 - Check your appliances
Appliances around your home may be using more water than you think.

Step 5 - Register for a free water saver kit
Yarra Valley Water customers can register for a free water saver starter kit to help with their water saving efforts.

Step 6 - Use a log sheet
To gain a full understanding of your personal water use we recommend you use a log sheet to record your water usage activities.
