Boil Water Advisory lifted for all suburbs
Melbourne Water, South East Water and Yarra Valley Water after consultation with the Department of Health and Human Services, are lifting the Boil Water Advisory issued on 28 August 2020 for all remaining suburbs. The water for all customers is now safe to drink.
Water treatment operations at Melbourne Water’s Silvan Dam have returned to normal. We can now confirm that all water quality sampling results have come back clear. There is no longer a concern about undisinfected water in the water supply network.
It is recommended that customers flush internal taps for two minutes to draw fresh water into their internal plumbing.
Customers can still call Yarra Valley Water’s emergency hotline on 13 27 62 and South East Water’s customer line on 13 28 12 for further information.
As always, we encourage any of our customers experiencing hardship or financial difficulties to contact us for support. Where people have been out of pocket by having to purchase bottled water, please contact us via email or phone to receive a refund.
We would like to thank people for their patience while we conducted thorough testing to ensure the water is safe. This was a complex process and has taken longer than expected and we are very sorry for this, especially considering the current coronavirus (COVID-19) Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne. We take our responsibility to provide safe drinking water very seriously and certainly do not issue these advisories lightly.
