Supplier Code of Conduct
The purpose of the Supplier Code of Conduct is to outline our expectations of the organisations that we partner with to deliver services.
The Supplier Code of Conduct sets out our expectations of suppliers and a framework for measuring performance, in the following key areas:
- Environmental management
- Occupational health & safety
- Corporate governance
- Supply chain
In May 2015, Yarra Valley Water became a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact. We support the ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and are committed to implementing them within our strategy and operations. The Code of Conduct reflects this commitment.
Managing our social and environmental impacts matters to us. We care about how our suppliers do business.
The Code clarifies minimum requirements and also describes ‘best practice’ performance which some progressive companies are already delivering, and which we would like all of our suppliers to work towards. It applies to all third party suppliers and contractors engaged by us.
Our initial focus is on those organisations we do the most work with, or where there are particular impacts we want to understand. For these key partners, Level 1 is a minimum requirement and we will be measuring performance with an annual self-assessment against the Supplier Code of Conduct. We encourage suppliers to move towards Level 3 (or beyond), which we regard as best practice.
Our suppliers should be prepared to provide documentation to demonstrate performance to Yarra Valley Water if requested.
The Supplier Code of Conduct does not replace obligations set out within our contracts, instead it focusses on the values and way of working that we expect to see in the companies that we partner with to deliver our services.
Yarra Valley Water expects suppliers to communicate the Code to related entities,
suppliers and subcontractors who support them in supplying to Yarra Valley Water, so that they are aware of, understand, and comply with the Code.
This Code will help ensure that social and environmental performance is considered when choosing suppliers.
Yarra Valley Water will regularly review the Code of Conduct, to ensure continuous improvement, and welcomes feedback from suppliers.
