Buttress Crescent water pump station and pipeline
We’re building a new water pump station and pipeline in South Morang to meet future growth and ensure the reliability of our water supply network to the Mernda reservoir.
The pump station, to be located near the intersection of Buttress Crescent and McArthurs Road, will divert water into the new pipeline and up to the Mernda reservoir.
- The 1800m pipeline, from the pump station to the Mernda tank, will be constructed within the road reserve on the northern side of McArthurs Road.
The map below shows the location of the water pump station and the pipeline.
Our project partner, Jaydo Construction Pty Ltd, expected to start work in February 2022 but this was delayed until May 2022. They expect to complete their work by January 2023, subject to weather and ground conditions.
What to expect
Normal working hours will be 7.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, with quiet office work on Saturdays, if required
To minimise the impact of construction on residents and the environment, we'll directional drill under the significant, mature trees along the pipeline alignment. The rest of the pipeline alignment will be an open cut trench
Some trees will need to be removed from the reserve along Buttress Crescent where we’ll build the pump station. A spotter will be onsite to capture any fauna, and release nearby
There will be extra trucks and vehicles on local roads. For your safety, please follow the directions of traffic management staff on site
Some work will be noisy, especially when we’re cutting the trench for the new pipes.
We don’t expect there’ll be any interruption to your services during these works.
In 2019, Yarra Valley Water purchased land for the pump station from Whittlesea City Council. Construction plans wer put on hold until the Mernda Tank was completed.
