Healesville Water Main Renewal
Yarra Valley Water is replacing existing water pipes in Healesville that are ageing or in poor condition, to ensure a reliable supply of drinking water to customers in the area.
We supply drinking water to customers in the Healesville area via underground pipes, known as ‘water mains’. The pipes along Healesville-Kinglake Road and Eleva Road in Healesville are getting older, and need to be replaced.
Our contractor, Downer Group, will be replacing a two-kilometre-long section of water pipe in these streets between late September 2016 and mid-July 2017.
Downer Group's site compound is located on the side of Healesville-Kinglake Road, and will be removed once all works, including a smaller section of work in Birdwood Avenue (near Eleva Road), are completed.
Work started in late September 2016, and the section of work along Healesville-Kinglake Road should be completed in mid-July 2017, weather permitting. A smaller section of work in Birdwood Avenue (near Eleva Road) will begin in mid-July 2017, and should be completed by late August 2017.
Downer Group will work Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 5.00pm. Work will also occur on some Saturdays.
Construction activities are occurring in Healesville-Kinglake Road, between River Street and Lilydale Road, and these should be completed by mid-July 2017.
An additional section of work will occur in Birdwood Avenue, near Eleva Road, from mid-July until late August 2017.
Construction activities are nearly completed in Eleva Road, and for most of Healesville-Kinglake Road. Eleva Road should be completed by Easter 2017.
Our contractor will not be working over the Easter weekend. After Easter, they will complete the remaining sections of work, including Healesville-Kinglake Road (between River Street and Lilydale Road), and near the existing Water Pumping Station in front of the RACV Club.
The new pipes will be constructed underneath the road surface of Healesville-Kinglake Road and Eleva Road. Motorists and nearby residents/businesses may notice:
- Traffic changes – all roads will remain open to traffic for the duration of the works, however lane closures will be necessary during work hours. A Council-approved traffic management plan will be in effect to ensure the safety of motorists and our workers.
- Noise – Downer Group will be using excavators, trucks and construction equipment throughout the works, which will be noisy at times during work hours.
Water and sewerage services will not be affected for nearby customers.
