ReWaste maintenance works

Our food waste to energy facility – ReWaste – at Wollert is undergoing essential maintenance. There'll be a chance of odour while we're carrying out these works.

To keep the ReWaste facility running optimally over the next decade, we’ll be cleaning out our 2 organic waste digester tanks and carrying out essential maintenance to our facilities.

You might notice a slight odour from the tanks when we open them to clean them out.

We’ll do everything we can to minimise odour by:

  • Using a 'water blanket' within the tank to help dilute and suppress odours.
  • Removing as much odour causing material as possible from the tanks before opening them.
  • Using odour neutralising misting cannons over the tanks while the works are being undertaken.
  • Using our existing odour suppression system located on the fence line of our site, which mists water into the air to suppress odours.

We'll also monitor with our real-time air quality surveillance and climate systems (including wind direction and speed).

Timeframes

These works will be happening in 2 stages.

Stage 1
We’ll be cleaning and maintaining the first tank from September 2024, until November 2024.
Stage 2
Works on the second tank will commence January 2025, until April 2025.
