Scam warnings for customers

We're aware of scams targeting customers. You can disregard scam information and only take action on information from Yarra Valley Water.

The scams falsely claim that water is unsafe and customers need a free water filtration system to remove contamination, or offer a discount on water bills.

Do not respond to scam information - we report scams to Consumer Affairs Victoria and Scam Watch.

Water quality scam

We're aware that water contamination fliers are in the Craigieburn area. The notices claim the water is unsafe and recommends customers leave a water sample outside to be collected. The notice advises customers will then receive a free water filtration system.

The notices do not carry any contact information and link to an American website with no Australian water quality information. Do not respond to the scam request. You can contact us on 1300 117 080 and report the scam to Consumer Affairs Victoria using the link below.

We have a comprehensive water quality monitoring program to ensure the water we supply is safe and of the highest quality.

Bill discount scam

The company offers to pay the bill, asks you to confirm the payment has been made and then gets you to transfer the money into their bank account.

If you are contacted by someone offering you a 30 per cent discount, do not provide any information and contact us immediately on 1300 853 811.

If you think you have provided your credit or debit card or account details to a scammer, contact your bank or financial institution immediately.
