Shower head replacement and digital meter study terms and conditions

Terms and conditions of supply, August 2025

If you take part in the free Shower Head Replacement and Digital Meter Study through Yarra Valley Water, the following terms and conditions apply:

1. Offer

Eligible participants will receive: 

a) up to four free WELS 5-star rated efficient shower heads (Shower Heads);

b) free plumbing installation of the Shower Heads; 

c) free upgraded high-resolution digital meter for a period of 18 months

d) free upgrade to standard digital meter at the conclusion of the study; and

e) A Prezzee voucher valued at $200 after installation of efficient shower heads are completed; and 

f) a further $100 Prezzee voucher at the completion of the 18 month period after all requested surveys are completed (together, the Offer). 

2. Eligibility

To be eligible to participate you must:

a) be approved by YVW

b) be over the age of 18;

c) own the residential property that receives the Offer. The residential property must have an authorised or approved connection to a water main owned by Yarra Valley Water; 

d) agree to have the Shower Heads installed and to have your shower heads replaced from the selection available

e) agree to share up to 18-months of your household water usage data and electricity usage data with YVW and third parties in accordance with the terms of this agreement (Usage Data); and 

f) provide reasonable assistance, including consents, to YVW to access, monitor and use you Usage Data.

3. Registering for the study

a) In order to be eligible for this study, participants you must first register your interest via our website.

b) YVW will conduct an eligibility check to confirm you meet the criteria of these terms and conditions.

4. The services

a) Once your eligibility has been approved by YVW, YVW will provide your email address, address and telephone number to New Plumbing Solutions (NPS) to perform the plumbing services on our behalf.

b) NPS are licensed plumbers who will install and remove water meters and replace shower heads. 

c) NPS will contact you within 3 weeks of your registration to provide more information on the process of installing of the high resolution water meter and arrange your shower head exchange appointment.
You may cancel an appointment by calling NPS on 1300 994 559 and selecting ‘option 2’ at least four hours before the scheduled appointment time.  

d) For appointments scheduled before 11 am, you must give notice the previous business day. 

e) If there is more than two Missed Appointments, YVW reserves the right to cancel your participation in the Free Showerhead Replacement and Digital Meter Study and terminate this agreement. 

5. Participant obligations 

In registering for this Free Showerhead Replacement and Digital Meter Study, you: 

a) confirm that you are over the age of 18; 

b) are the owner of the residential property receiving the goods and services; 

c) have the capacity to accept and be bound by this agreement;

d) consent to YVW’s staff and contractors, including NPS, entering your residential property to supply the services and install the Shower Heads, high-resolution digital water meter and standard digital meter; 

e) consent to the replacement and disposal of existing shower heads;

f) consent to the installation of a standard digital meter at the end of the study;

g) will ensure that you or an authorised agent over the age 18 is at the residential property at the scheduled appointment time;

h) must ensure that you or your authorised agent is able to give the plumber access to all areas of the property needed to provide the services;

i) give the YVW, its contractors and NPS any information which may help in locating water service infrastructure at the residential property;

j) will provide necessary consents and reasonable assistance to enable YVW to access and monitor your Usage Data including household water use data; 

k) alert the YVW, its contractors and NPS to any known risks or hazards at the residential property, including but not limited to dogs, electrical, gas or wiring issues, and unsafe flooring;

l) provide reasonable assistance to the YVW, its contractors and NPS in installing the Shower Heads, High Resolution Digital Meter and standard digital meter and if needed, allow the photography of the water infrastructure and any work completed, including showers, hot water unit and surrounding areas. 

6. Warranty

a) NPS will provide a warranty for 3 months for labour and 12 months for parts and materials.

b) If you have any warranty questions, please call NPS on 1300 994 559 and select Option 2.

7. Audit and compilation of statistics

a) You consent to us reviewing your water usage and Usage Data over time to determine the impact of the services on your water use

b) We may request your permission to audit and inspect the work done after its completion for quality assurance. You are not obliged to accept this request.

c) We will ask you to provide information about your electricity usage to help us determine if the program is helping to save energy. 

d) We will only use the information we obtain under this clause to gather statistics. We will de-identify any information you provide to protect your privacy.

8. Privacy and data sharing 

a) YVW complies with the Information Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) in the way that we handle personal information about our customers and other individuals. 

b) We will collect the Usage Data you give us to: 

c) administer the Free Shower Head and Digital Meter Study; 

d) supply services to you under the Free Shower Head and Digital Meter Study; and 

e) assess the impact of Free Shower Head and Digital Meter Study on water and energy consumption.

f) YVW will share your personal information, including: name, address, email and phone number with our plumbers, NPS, who are contracted by Yarra Valley Water to undertake the installation of the water meters and shower head replacement. 

g) YVW will be sharing the Usage Data on a de-identified basis with third parties for research purposes, including, to assess the impact of 5-star energy shower heads on water and energy usage. 

h) Third parties that will receive the Usage Data include the University of Queensland, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action and Griffiths University.

i) We may also use your personal information to alert you to other service and product offerings we may have from time to time. 

j) You have a right to access the personal information that we keep. This clause does not affect the limitations on use of your information.

9. Termination 

a) If at any time you do not wish to continue to participate in this study, please email [email protected] to confirm your withdrawal. YVW will require 10 business days to process this request. 

b) YVW reserves its right to terminate this agreement immediately if you, your agent or representative or property pose a risk to the health or safety of YVW’s staff, personnel, contractors or agents. 

c) YVW may in its absolute discretion, without cause and for any reason terminate this agreement by emailing you at your nominated email address. 

10. Limitation of liability

a) the extent permitted by law the Parties exclude liability for any consequential or indirect losses arising under or in connection with this agreement.

b) A Party’s obligation to indemnify the other Party under this agreement will be reduced proportionally to the extent that a negligent act or omission or breach of this agreement by that Party has directly caused any loss or damage.

c) YVW’s liability in connection with this agreement is limited to: 

d) in respect of goods: the cost of replacing the goods or supplying equivalent goods; and

e) in respect of services: the cost of supplying the services again or.

f) Nothing in this agreement is to be read as excluding, restricting or modifying the application of any legislation which cannot by law be excluded, restricted or modified. 

11. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the law of Victoria and the parties accept the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.

12. Definition of important terms

ServicesServices supplied by Yarra Valley Water to you under the Free Shower Head and Digital Meter Study and specified in the Schedule of Services and Charges. A reference to services includes the installation of any goods.
