Reading commercial water meters

There are ten common types of meters used on commercial and industrial properties.

If you need to submit a meter reading to ensure you receive an accurate bill, you will need to find your meter in the list below.

Meter type prefix YAF

• Black numbers on white background register kilolitres.
• White numbers on red background register litres.

Meter type prefix YRAF

• Black numbers on white background register kilolitres.
• White numbers on red background register litres.

Meter type prefix YCF

• Black numbers on white background register kilolitres.
• White numbers on red background register litres.

Meter type prefix YAND

• Black numbers on white background register kilolitres.
• 'Tell-tale' detects small usage and leaks.
• Four clock dials at bottom of meter register (starting from right hand side) hundreds of litres, tens of litres, litres and tenths of litres.

Meter type prefix YBND

• Black numbers on white background register kilolitres.

Meter type prefix MDK

• Black numbers on white background register kilolitres.

Meter type prefix YEA

• Black numbers on white background register kilolitres.
• White numbers on red background register hundreds of litres and tenths of litres.
• Dial registers litres.

Meter type prefix YFF

• Black numbers on white background register kilolitres.
• Three clock dials at top of meter register (starting from right hand side) hundreds of litres, tens of litres and litres.

Meter type MGC

• Black numbers on white background register kilolitres.
• Three clock dials register (starting from right hand side) hundreds of litres, tens of litres and litres.

Meter type prefix YHS

• Digital display shows kilolitres up to decimal point followed by litres.
