Love branch sewer project

We’ve completed building a new sewer pipeline to improve the sewerage system in Wollert.

The new pipeline runs alongside the Hume Freeway, from opposite the Aurora housing estate to our existing network on the northern side of Craigieburn Road East, Wollert. This new sewer will ensure our network is reliable into the future as this area develops and more people move in.

Our project partner, MFJ Constructions, started work in March 2024 and completed construction in June 2026.

What we did

Constructed a new 2km sewer pipeline along the Hume Freeway, from opposite the Aurora housing development to connect to our existing network near Rathdowne Estate on Craigieburn Road East.
Excavated deep shafts to install the sewer pipes and maintenance access points.

Some sections of the new sewer main were open cut and others were micro-tunnelled.

For safety, we constructed a temporary shared path for cyclists and pedestrians around the construction area.

Impacts during the works

Normal working hours were 7 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, and 7 am to 3 pm on Saturdays.
For safety, a temporary shared path was constructed around our work area along the Galada Tamboore shared path.
Some trees and vegetation were removed.
Our work was noisy and dusty, and there were additional vehicles in the area.
Our water and/or sewerage services weren't affected during the works.
