M47 Water Main Renewal Project

We've replaced a section of water main in Toorak Road, known as the M47 water main. This water main was almost 100 years old and beyond its service life.

In 2021 we replaced a section of the water main in Toorak Road that supplies drinking water to more than 9,000 customers in Kooyong and Malvern.

Our Project Partners, Kaycee Excavations, installed new pipes from the intersection of Toorak Road and Talbot Crescent to the right-turn lanes onto the Monash Freeway, outbound.

Construction of the pipeline commenced in late March 2021 and was completed in July 2021.

To minimise impact on motorists, most of the new pipeline construction work was done at night and weekends.

In October 2021 we undertook additional works along Toorak Road, from Auburn to Burke roads, and rehabilitated the road reserve and shared path under the rail bridge.
