Growing confidence through new challenges

By Neelesh Joshi, Financial Services Lead

Over my time at Yarra Valley Water, I’ve had the chance to grow my skills and build confidence by taking on new challenges.

I lead our financial services team and work closely with teams across the organisation to understand their priorities, opportunities and risks.

A large part of my role is helping teams make sense of the numbers. I provide financial insights that support good decision-making and oversee budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting and treasury activities.

Learning through collaboration

Working collaboratively across the business has played a big role in shaping how I work.

It’s strengthened my skills in financial analysis, leadership and decision-making, while also giving me a better understanding of how different parts of Yarra Valley Water work together.

Helping the organisation succeed is just as important to me as my own professional growth.

Helping teams make decisions that matter

What motivates me most is supporting teams with practical, easy to understand financial insights so they can move forward with confidence.

I value open conversations and honest feedback. Our team shares ideas, asks questions and takes time to reflect on our work, so we can keep improving how we do things.

That mindset helps us deliver better outcomes and make a real difference through the work we support.

A culture that supports people to thrive

Yarra Valley Water has a supportive and inclusive culture where people genuinely care about the impact of their work.

I have really valued the opportunities I have had to contribute, learn and grow, alongside people who are respectful, collaborative and committed to doing their best work.
