Recycled Water Inspection Program

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing essential water and sanitation services, Yarra Valley Water regularly checks recycled water plumbing connections at  properties in our recycled network areas. This is to ensure recycled water services are properly connected and separate to drinking water services.

What's involved?

Inspections are held remotely via a web-based application called Virtual Assist. Using the camera on your smart device, our  inspectors will guide you step-by-step through the process.

A typical inspection follows these steps:

  • Turning off the drinking water supply at the meter
  • Briefly turning on each tap in the house
  • Turning the drinking water supply back on
  • Making sure the correct signage is in place on your recycled water plumbing

Your drinking water service will be turned off during the inspection, which should take less than 15 minutes.
