Surrey Hills Water Pressure Project
Yarra Valley Water has completed works at several locations in Surrey Hills to improve water pressure to customers in the area.
We are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality water service. We are aware that some of our customers in parts of Surrey Hills had been experiencing issues with low water pressure in the homes, and committed to resolving these issues.
We have been working to improve the water pressure in the area, which will ensure your home is provided with an acceptable supply of water.
In December 2016, we completed works to install a Water Pumping Station in the north-east corner of Melbourne Water’s Surrey Hills reservoir (located south of Canterbury Road, west of Elgar Road). This will help maintain a higher pressure in sections of our pipes, particularly those located around the top of hills, so that properties in these areas have more water to use.
We are currently working on relocating the existing Water Pumping Station within the reservoir site. The infrastructure is in a temporary location, and will be relocated further south within the site in mid-2018.
To ensure the best outcome for our customers, we have investigated how the new Water Pumping Station interacts with the existing network.
Our crews inspected the water mains in Pembroke and Newton Streets in June 2017. Additional works to improve the condition of water supply pipes within these streets was completed in September 2017.
We will continue to monitor the water pressure levels over the summer months of 2017-18, to understand whether the new Water Pumping Station is being operated optimally, or if further upgrades to the existing network will be required.
