Yarra Valley Water

Donnybrook Road East Sewerage Project

Yarra Valley Water has completed construction of a new sewer main in Donnybrook to support planned development of Melbourne’s northern growth corridor.

In 2019, we completed construction of a 3.6km sewer pipeline along Donnybrook Road, Donnybrook.

This new sewer, between the Melbourne-Sydney railway line and 1145 Donnybrook Road, collects and transfers sewage flows from existing and planned residential developments.

Most of the new pipeline was constructed on the north side of Donnybrook Road, within privately-owned or developer-owned land.

Depending on ground conditions, our Project Partners, MFJ and Califam, used a combination of open-trench excavations and underground drilling techniques to install the pipes at depths ranging between 6 to 12 metres.

To enable us to access the sewer for ongoing maintenance and to monitor operations, we also constructed 15 new sewer maintenance structures that are up to 2.7m in diameter.

Construction commenced in early 2018 and was completed in late 2019.

This sewer discharges into the Amaroo Main Sewer.
