Commencing in October 2026, the dual partnership will enhance the organisation’s ability to maintain essential infrastructure and deliver high quality services to customers and communities.
Yarra Valley Water General Manager Asset Services, Bridie Fennessy, said the organisation is looking forward to building on its established relationships with both partners.
“We know how important reliable water and sanitation services are to the people we serve, and strengthening our partnerships with Service Stream and Ventia helps us keep delivering on that promise.
“We’ve built strong relationships over many years, and this next chapter is about working even more closely, sharing what we learn and finding smarter ways to maintain our network so our customers feel the benefits.”
Service Stream brings extensive experience delivering maintenance services at South East Water, SA Water and Sydney Water. They also have a long-standing relationship with Yarra Valley Water through capital delivery projects, meter reading services and, more recently, asset reliability programs.
Ventia continues as one of Yarra Valley Water’s long-term maintenance partners, bringing deep knowledge of the network and a strong record in safety, customer experience and rapid response.
Together, Service Stream and Ventia will provide responsive and scheduled maintenance activities for Yarra Valley Water’s civil infrastructure assets, along with mechanical and electrical maintenance services on sewer and water systems and treatment plant assets. This includes work on specialist equipment such as pumps, valves and electrical switchboards.
Ventia Managing Director and Group CEO, Dean Banks, said: “Ventia is pleased to continue its partnership with Yarra Valley Water as we deliver reliable services for people and businesses within Yarra Valley Water’s service area. The team has already achieved strong results in customer experience and response times and, as we enter a new phase, we remain focused on transformational asset management and enhanced service delivery.”
Service Stream Managing Director, Leigh Mackender, said: “Service Stream is extremely proud to be selected as a delivery partner for this long-term program. We look forward to working closely with Yarra Valley Water and supporting the maintenance of its critical infrastructure across Melbourne."
The contract will be in place for nine years and Yarra Valley Water will transition to the new partnership model over coming months, ensuring all current work continues to be completed.
Together with Service Stream and Ventia, Bridie Fennessy said the Yarra Valley Water partnership will ensure reliability for customers.
“I’m excited about the opportunities this new partnership provides as we continue to strengthen our network and deliver the safe, reliable services our customers rely on, today and into the future,” she said.
