The AFL Women’s (AFLW) player Moana Hope, is named as the new Choose Tap ambassador for football. Announced at the Eastern Football League’s (EFL) and AFL Victoria’s season kick off recently, female players Choose Tap to stay hydrated as part of their match day rituals.

Moana became the first player to kick 100 goals in a VFL Women’s season, and is a strong advocate for staying hydrated to be at your best on the field.  “To play at my best I drink tap water, staying hydrated means I can give 100%” said Moana.

“I need to make sure that I drink at least 2 litres during training and afterwards as water is key in order to recover. It’s what gets me over the line".

“The beauty of Choose Tap is that you can go anywhere, be at home, or at the gym and there are taps there to just fill up your bottle and go. You don’t have to go to a machine, you don’t need coins and you’re also drinking something that’s great for you” she added.

Yarra Valley Water Managing Director Pat McCafferty said that we are absolutely thrilled to have Moana on board as Choose Tap Ambassador for football.
“Choose Tap has always been involved in grassroots football in our region and we already sponsor the Eastern and Northern Football Leagues. Given the massive growth in girls’ and women’s football, we decided it was time to invest in the VFL Women’s League (VFL Women’s) and Eastern Region Girls Football League (ERGFL). We are excited to work with Moana to promote the benefits of drinking tap water and can’t wait to see her have a great season”.

AFL Victoria CEO Steven Reaper welcomed the partnership with Choose Tap. “Partnerships like this help our clubs and players both on and off the field, which in turn allows the Victorian talent pathway to prosper and continue to be the envy of other states,” Mr Reaper said.

EFL Chief Executive Officer Phil Murton says keeping well hydrated during games is vital for football players. “We’re fortunate in Melbourne to have some of the best drinking water in the world, so it makes sense for players to make use of this accessible, cheap and healthy resource during games and training,” Mr Murton says.
