Painted Hills Sewer Upgrade

We’re upgrading the sewer pump station and sewer main at Painted Hills Road to improve our sewer network's reliability in Doreen.

From January 2025, we'll be onsite to construct a new sewer pipeline and complete mechanical and electrical work at the sewer pump station. We expect this work to take approximately 18 months.

  • We're construcing a one-kilometre sewer pipeline from our pump station site near Kyarra Drive to the Mernda and Doreen Recreation Reserve.  Given the variable and difficult ground conditions, we’ll use a combination of open cut trenching and micro-tunnelling. This work will be completed in stages. We'll also construct new maintenance holes so our staff can access the sewer, when required.
  • When we’ve installed the new sewer main, we’ll complete work on the new pump station near the intersection of Painted Hills Road and Kyarra Drive and decommission the existing one.

Our Project Partner, Jaydo, will establish 2 site offices and storage areas. The main office is in the open space opposite Kyarra Drive and the other will be south of the Overland Drive roundabout.

The map shows the new sewer pipeline alignment, stages of work and the planned construction methods.

What to expect

  • Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 5:30 pm. If required, work on Saturday is from 7 am to 3 pm.
  • There will be construction noise, vibration, and dust, especially as we excavate the deep, open cut trenches.
  • Sections of the shared path along Laurimar Creek will be closed while we install the pipes. Pedestrians and cyclists will need to use the existing path on the east side of Painted Hills Road.
  • There will be restricted access to the Laurimar Creek Reserve Playground and the Nature Play area south of Overland Drive, and some shrubs will need to be removed.
  • There may be short traffic delays and interruptions as we bring heavy equipment to site. For your safety, please follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
  • There will be additional vehicles parked along local streets.

We don’t expect any interruption to your water and sewerage services.
