Painted Hills Sewer Upgrade

We’re upgrading the sewer pump station and sewer main at Painted Hills Road to improve our sewer network's reliability in Doreen.

From January 2026, we'll be back onsite to complete mechanical and electrical work at the existing sewer pump station and finalise the construction of our new sewer pipeline. We expect our work at the pump station to take approximately 4 months, depending on the weather.

What we're doing

We're construcing a one-kilometre sewer pipeline from our pump station site, near Kyarra Drive, to the Mernda and Doreen Recreation Reserve. Given the variable and difficult ground conditions, we’ll use a combination of open cut trenching and micro-tunnelling. This work will be completed in stages. We'll also construct new maintenance holes so our staff can access the sewer, when required.
When we’ve completed the new sewer main, we’ll construct a new pump station near the intersection of Painted Hills Road and Kyarra Drive. The existing pump station will be decommissioned.

This project is being managed by our Project Partner, Jaydo Constructions.

What to expect

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 5:30 pm. If required, work on Saturday is from 7 am to 3 pm.
There will be construction noise, vibration, and dust, especially as we excavate the deep, open cut trenches.
Sections of the shared path along Laurimar Creek will be closed while we install the pipes. Pedestrians and cyclists will need to use the existing path on the east side of Painted Hills Road.
There will be ongoing access to the Laurimar Creek Reserve playground, but restricted access to the Nature Play area south of Overland Drive.
Some shrubs will need to be removed.
There may be short traffic delays and interruptions as we bring heavy equipment to site. For your safety, please follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
There may be additional vehicles parked along local streets.

We don’t expect any interruption to your water and sewerage services.
