Painted Hills Sewer Upgrade
To improve the reliability of our sewer network in Doreen, we’re upgrading the sewer pump station and sewer main at Painted Hills Road.
This project has been delayed and is on hold until further notice. Thanks for your patience.
We stopped working at our Painted Hills Sewer Upgrade Project site when it became clear the trenchless approach was unsuitable due to variable ground conditions. We’ve taken time to redesign how we’ll build the new sewer - and where we’ll put it.
We’re now planning to construct the sewer using a combination of shallow and deep open-cut trenches, and a revised trenchless technology. And, we’ve made some minor changes to the alignment that need permits and approvals. We are currently finalising the relevant approvals with Council.

When we return to site, we'll continue to upgrade the sewer pump station and construct a new sewer main at Painted Hills Road, Doreen.
- The new pump station is being constructed near the intersection of Painted Hills Road and Kyarra Drive.
- A one-kilometre pipeline will be constructed along Painted Hills Road, from the pump station site to the Overland Drive roundabout where it continues under Laurimar Creek to Braford Drive and connects to an existing sewer. To limit the impact of our work on vegetation and the waterway, the pipeline will be constructed using directional drilling.
In addition, we will also construct new maintenance holes along the alignment to enable our maintenance staff to access the sewer, when required.
Once we’ve completed the new sewer pipeline and pump station, we’ll decommission the existing ones.

Community Update - August 2023
In August 2021 we appointed Jaydo Construction as our Project Partners.
In July 2022 we stopped work.
While we had completed most of the work at the pump station site, the challenging ground conditions meant we needed to stop work and re-assess our construction approach for the pipeline. Working with Jaydo and other pipeline specialists, we’ve undertaken a number of additional investigations and assessments including a geophysical survey to better understand the ground conditions and to confirm the location of other buried services that cross the pipeline alignment.
While we're continuing to explore options for the best way to finish our work, we’ll reduce the impact of the work site on the community by repairing the footpath, reducing pooling water within the site and cutting the grass more frequently.
We apologise for this delay and any inconvenience.
