Water Supply Testing June 2022 - parts of Surrey Hills, Mont Albert, Balwyn North and Box Hill South
As a result of North East Link works and level crossing removal works, a number of water assets have been relocated and will need to run some tests on our water supply network.
During these tests, residents in parts of Surrey Hills, Mont Albert, Balwyn North and Box Hill South may notice a small reduction in the flow of water to their property. Our tests will only result in changes to the water pressure for 4 weeks. We will start making these important changes to our water supply network on 28 June 2022.
We hope to complete our testing quickly and have plans in place if unexpected impacts are experienced.
What does the work involve?
We need to modify the pump station and move the water main from its current location so that major infrastructure works (including level crossing removals) can take place. Moving this main means we can access the water main quicker in the case of an emergency with less disruptions to traffic and to your supply.
What do the Yarra Valley Water tests involve?
We’ll change over your water supply for a short time, which means we’ll supply you with water from different pipes in our network. While we do this, you may notice a reduction in the flow of water at your property, particularly in the early morning and evening when water demand is usually high.
During testing we will carefully monitor the pressure in our water supply system to ensure we continue to provide you with a flow rate, as guaranteed under our Customer Charter.
How long the tests will take and when will they happen?
Our tests will only result in changes to the water pressure for a 4 week period.
We expect to start the tests on 28 June 2022, with all tests to be completed by the end of July. We hope to complete all testing quickly and have contingency plans in place if unexpected impacts are experienced.
