Brushy Creek Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade Project
We’ve completed an investigation at our Brushy Creek Sewage Treatment Plant in Croydon to identify possible odour sources and find a solution to improve the plant’s performance.
We’d heard from some Chirnside Park residents living directly north of the treatment plant that they sometimes noticed odours from the site.
In October 2020 we completed an odour assessment that identified possible odour sources.
We’ve considered several options to treat the odours and found a solution. This will involve installing a new $1.3 million 10-metre high air vent stack with an activated carbon treatment system that will filter the odours. This is a proven treatment, used at numerous other sewage treatment facilities around Australia.
After receiving approvals from the Shire of Yarra Ranges and EPA Victoria, we'll start construction in early October 2021.
We've appointed our contractor, Emission Treatment Solutions and completed the design of the vent stack and odour treatment system. We hope to commission the new facility by the end of June 2022.
