Cameron Street East Mains
What’s involved in the works?
Our contractor, MFJ Constructions, will be delivering essential upgrades to support growth in Melbourne’s northern corridor. The project includes:
- A new 2.2-kilometre drinking water main.
- A new 2.2-kilometre recycled water main.
- A new 1.2-kilometre sewer main.
Most of this work will be completed using open-cut digging, with some tunneling in certain areas to reduce impacts.
We’ll be tunneling underneath the Merri Creek in a small section – avoiding any impact to the creek itself.
We’ll also be tunneling under the railway line, and areas of cultural heritage sensitivity.
When will work start?
We expect to start construction in October 2025.
The works will take approximately 2 years to complete.
Why do we need to do this work?
- Improved reliability – As the local population grows, so does demand on our water and sewer services. These upgrades will ensure the system continues to run smoothly now and into the future.
- Supporting growth in Donnybrook and Woodstock – Extending sewer services to these areas ensures the right systems are in place to meet the needs of this growing community.
- Stronger water supply for Olivine Estate – The new mains will provide a secondary source of drinking and recycled water, helping to maintain water pressure and reduce the risk of service interruptions.
